Sorry for Rainbow Rocking

I don’t know if your musical knowledge goes back to those days or not, but there was once a song by a band called Bananarama- the song was called Cruel Summer. Now, the song is all about love and lust and summer follies, but when I looked outside at the weather today (and yesterday, and the day before..) “cruel summer” is all I can think. Sure, summer only officially starts on the 21st.. but given the weather these last few weeks, I don’t think that many of us have that much hope left for a warm and sunny introduction to the summer season!

I’m not a HUGE fan of summer myself- at least not clothes-wise. Being a big boned hobbit (I’m not that short) at my 1m68, I’m absolutely not a “short shorts and crop top” kind of girl. Not that I don’t appreciate the look! I do, but on others. Deep down, I’m more of a leather pants, thick knit sweater, beanie, (mongolian goat fur) coat, Zadig combat boots and killer accessories kind of character. Let’s just say that I’m the first person to want to go spend five days camping at a music festival, but I’m the last one to appreciate feeling hot, sticky, sun-burnt, uncomfortable and underdressed. Yuck.

About the collage: this is a mash-up of most of my latest loves and crazes; mostly, things I’m lusting after. How to wear?
Having color-coded this multicolor dream a little, you can pretty much make out what goes with what; I’m seeing the pastel blue jeans being worn with one of the blue bags (Chanel or Zadig, you choose), the white Isabel Marant shoes (which would compliment the simple-but-happening white Lichtenberg tee,) the blue jewelry (YSL rings, btw), the Chanel tweed jacket.. oh, and if you feel like color-blocking a bit and want to wear the green suede Céline tote instead of the blue bags.. I’ve put some green Valentino rockstud flats out for you, too. Lovely. Then on the purple side, we have pastel jeans, to be worn with that sexy python Zadig tank, the vintage Chanel cuff, the Aurélie Bidermann cuff, the unnecessary birth-control glasses (©ManRepeller), and either the Vans by Kenzo, or the beautiful watermelon patent leather Valentino kitten heels. (For more details about my Valentino addiction, look here.) Finally, the pink zone… oh, that pink zone. I was feeling very Wildfox meets Ek Thongprasert meets Zanotti with this one.. though none of those brands are concerned. I’d want to play it like this; the pink pants, the Made With Love Zadig sweater, the Rossi heels (maybe even the yellow Vans!), the all-gold Collier-de-chien by Hermès, the yellow Céline, the yellow The Row shades, the unbelievably beautiful YSL rings, the tritone earrings and the Binns necklace. Colors and colors- the more, the better!
And voilà, there’s my summer wardrobe- all of these pieces to mix and match.
Unfortunately for me, I’d have to work for a decade (or marry rich… hmmm) to be able to deck my closet’s walls and shelves with these wonders of the world, and secondly, the current weather is in no way coherent to wear such pigmented wonders. Oh, well.

At least I’ve inspired your imagination for the day.
Have a good one!
